Letter To Prime Minister Howard.

To: Prime Minister Howard,

Re: Schapelle Corby Case

It is of great concern to Australian citizens and people of all nations, that Schapelle Corby did not receive reasonable investigation on arriving in Bali with drugs in her possession. Corby's bag was not weighed nor finger printed to draw more conclusive evidence. With baggage handlers implicated in Australia and the Indonesian judicial system not recognizing the Australian judicial system, an innocent girl may be sentenced to life in prison, or worse, face a firing squad if found guilty.

Schapelle by all accounts appears innocent and there is no evidence she is tied to any terror links. Her case is unique. I call upon you as the protector of Australian citizens to take stronger action towards the release of Schapelle Corby. If you as Australian Prime Minister can not do more then perhaps it is time to explore the legalities of this 1948 United Nations Bill of which both Australia and Indonesia signed:

The International Human Rights Bill:
"Article 10. Everyone is entitled in full equality to a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal, in the determination of his rights and obligations and of any criminal charge against him." United Nations

Schapelle Corby Petition

I understand the sensitivity of this case with the larger war on terror and winning the hearts and minds of the Indonesian people... and the importance of respecting the Indonesian judicial system, but this injustice should not be acceptable under any circumstances. Schapelle's case has now drawn international media attention. The world is watching. In the scheme of things if Schapelle is wrongly convicted, the international community will boycott Indonesia which will have a negative impact on their economy and lead to greater global division. Allowing Schapelle to be wrongly convicted would be detrimental in the big picture on the war on terror.

Petition included.

Sincerely,
Gabrielle Reilly
