Schapelle Corby - Comments About Schapelle Corby By Gabrielle Reilly
Schapelle Corby: Schapelle
Corby's story has wrenched the hearts of many people
around the world. We sit feeling helpless hoping our government
will intervene and try and bring this tragic story towards
a happy ending. A petition may apply political pressure
to both the Indonesian government and the Australian government:
"Please add me to this petition.
I cannot believe our government has not done more to free
Schapelle when it is so obvious that she is innocent. What
scares me the most is this could've been me. This could
happen to any one. My prayers
& thoughts are with Schapelle and her family!"
Janna, Newcastle Australia
"Free Schapelle! Make the Indonesian's suffer without
our tourist dollars and aid. This is a total injustice to
Schapelle, her family and all australians! WE BELIEVE IN
YOU SCHAPELLE!" Alana, Adelaide
"i love indonesia.i willnot revisit
if corby is shot. obvious wrong conviction." chris,
australia
"I want to join the others who
have signed the petition to grant amnesty to Schapelle Corby.
The proposed sentence is unjust and unjustified and I urge
her immediate release." Gerald, Alaska
"This is shocking! My heart goes
out to her and her family. Something must be done to save
this young woman's life." Sherri, USA
"It’s hard to believe that
in today’s age issues such as this can turn into such
a nightmare. Have they made any ties to whom she would have
been working with or performed any logical investigation?
Schapelle should be set free and the ridiculous charges dropped!
Schapelle Corby has to be set free
immediately and I say this not only as a Canadian but as a
Global representative of Common sense and Moral Value. This
incident will only force me to eliminate all business with
Indonesia and press my partners to do the same. I will not
allow any contribution from my purchases to enable such a
government. Send Schapelle Corby home, safely and unharmed."
Brian, Ontario, Canada.
"Please add my name to the petition.
My heart goes out to Corby and her family. Bali prison is
no place for this young woman and the Australian Government
needs to bring her home." Mark, Indianapolis, Indiana
USA
"Please include my
name to help in the safe return of Schapelle Corby to her
home and family. This story is saddening and offensive that
it has gone this far without intervention." Chad,
New York, New York
"We have enough cruelty. There
are legalized drug dealers and here....There are so many problems
in the world to be addressed instead of this one. Let this
woman free." Emilia, Unknown
"I hope she comes home!"
Hilary, Atlanta, Georgia USA
"If she is centenced her countrey
has failed her." Todd, Canada
"Clearly, the Australian government
is the only hope for freeing Schapelle Corby. She is obviously
innocent, and there is evidence pointing to which people DID
plant the drugs in her luggage. It is time to pull out all
the stops and act to save her life and bring her home to Australia-the
Indonesians have NO hard evidence! I urge you to consider
how you would be feeling right now if this were your daughter,
sister, Mother or friend-would you sit buy? I don't believe
so." Cathy, USA
"This story has just seemed to
find new light here in America. I cannot believe she has been
in custody this long and there isn't more worldwide outcry.
(My guess is if she were rich or some public figure the media's
would be giving us daily updates. And I dare say they wouldn't
have been there for even 7 DAYS). I realize that there are
many innocent lives lost in higher numbers almost daily. But
an innocent life is an innocent life. And the fact that common
sence is not playing out in the courts in Bali is beyond words.
Though our countries may dissagree from time to time, I know
that deep in our hearts we stand together. That said I stand
(though far away) by everyone who is outraged by this injustice.
My thoughts and prayers are with Schapelle and those that
love her. May she be home soon. May she be set free."
Joe,
USA
"In today's world, big crime always
falls onto the innocent as the ones at the top enjoy more
money then the rest, so why should they take the risk of being
caught, that's why they set up the unknowing, like Schapelle,
I REALLY HOPE they find Schapelle innocent and just send home.
As I think she is been made an example of, even though she
is innocent, as in history it has shown that in some counties,
that if they allow someone to be released after being accused
of a crime that they are innocent of. The accuses feel ashamed
that they got it wrong. So to disallow their shame, they continue
with the guilty play until it goes way. And then when it's
all over, there is many pats on the back and a job well done.
But the truth is, an innocent young lady paid the maximum
price for someone else greed and crime against the world.
As I come from a small country town, of 23,000 and the drug
trade is here too. So I would really like to see that Schapelle
is set free. And the investigation of the drugs was so badly
done that, the Indonesian authorities, would be feeling very
ashamed and foolish because they know they stuffed up big
time, so that's why they are making an example of Schapelle.
Please give her lots of support, as we know she is innocent,
give her our love. bye for now watching and wanting every
day. Very concern your unknown friend" Wayne, Australia
"It is so obvious that shapelle
has been used here. She is innocent and deserves all the support
she can get to prove this. It can't be left in God's hands,
people must stand up and speak." Lori, Victoria Australia
"I am absolutely blown away that
the Australian Gov't has not intervened on this womans behalf!!
What are the Indonesian's thinking?! I bet if this were the
Prime Ministers daughter she'd be home in Oz right now.
How can people of the world help? Can't you organize an email
campaign to the Australian Prime Minister that would bombard
him with thousands of msg's in support of her? Is anyone organizing
street demo's in Oz?" Chris, Australia
"I live in San Diego California.
We are next to the border with Mexico. A lot of bad people
are in prison for dealing drugs. Many innocent people pay
the price for drug laws. We need to take care of the innocent.
Are the Balinese innocent too? I will let them judge themselves."
Steven J. Dellemann
"It makes me sick. Get your shit
together Indonesia and act like human beings. I am not sure
how much more we can do for you and the way you are treating
Schapelle tells me you have no appreciation for anything.
Sure have a couple of billion dollars, and in return, take
the life of an innocent Australian. We don’t ask for
much, if anything from you. Also, I hope those involved in
smuggling the pot into Schapelle’s bag never sleep again
no matter what the outcome." Sam, Canberra
"I just wanted to iterate my support
for Schapelle Corby. After reading what information is available
on this case in the U.S. I do not think that she was a willing
participant in this drug smuggling ring. Additionally, even
if she was a participant, a firing squad or life in prison
is certainly not a fit punishment for the crime. I do not
believe that any person in the world who believes in freedom
and the rule of law and justice can think that this would
be justice. Hopefully, the Indonesian court will come to their
senses and realize the same thing.
If not, then Australia's government
should have the will to do what is necessary to secure her
immediate release. Up to and including naval exercises off
the coast of Jakarta, with other actions resulting if necessary.
If I were President Bush over here, I would offer the best
SEAL team and intelligence resources to John Howard if he
needed assistance to get her out of there. Freedom loving
peoples need to protect their own, to do less is a betrayal
of the very reason that we have nations at all. Our thoughts
and prayers are with Schapelle Corby." Eric, USA
"I heard about this story on CNN
and it struck me as so sad, and on the part of the prosecution,
absurd. I had a friend who lived in Malaysia and experienced
a similar story about 20 years ago. A young French woman was
apparently set up by Chinese criminals to unknowingly carry
drugs through a Malaysian airport. They snuck their cargo
into her baggage. Does this sound familiar? It should--it
happened. And I am sure it sounds familiar to the Indonesain
prosecutors. They have seen this before. There appears to
be evidence and reasonable doubt enough to clear Corby. Why
is this falling on deaf ears? Unfortunately they have a "guilty
until proven innocent" ideology. Schapelle Corby will
be my prayer." Phil, USA
"Please sir if there is anything
you can do to help Schapelle Corby please do so.
It will be such a tragedy if something happens to her."
David, U.S.A.
