"Note to Indonesia: You can have my
countries money when you send back my fellow countrywoman."
Edward, Geelong, Victoria, Australia
"bali goverment is worried
if they back down on this, then it will ruin them as a holiday
destination.Sorry bali but you have done that all on your own."
rebecca, tasmania, australia
"I hereby promise that I will never knowingly (a) buy
a product or service from Indonesia or (b) sell or be invovled
in the sale of any product or service to Indonesia, until and
unless all charges against Schapelle Corby are dropped -- AND
-- as long as any human being in Indonesia faces the death penalty
for any drug crime." - John M. Hughson
"Free Schapelle, this is just so unfair
and heart wrenching !! I will not be going to Bali ever !!Everybody
has to get behind Schapelle and support her in anyway they can."
Liza ,New Zealand.
"there should be a boycot against traveling for turism
to Bali, till the Schapelle story is sorted out positively, none
australian, american, european should travel there, the threat
of the financial impact should have some effect. " Nick
Delhanidis - Greece
"This is a huge injustice. No-one should be executed for
the alleged crime committed. They don't
even know for sure that she's guilty. Even if she is guilty, she
does not deserve to die. Please do something to stop this inhumanity."
Christopher, California, USA.
"Please ad my name to the petition
- what more can we do to help this poor girl get home SAFE to
Australia?" Roby USA/NZ
"A
judicial system that finds the innocent guilty is obviously fraught
with wrongs. But the judicial system that kills the innocent,
is morally reprehensible. Even if the party involved were not
innocent, what sort of twisted justice is death? How does the
alleged crime equate such an egregious fatal solution? It is just
downright disgusting to stage a human murder, under the guise
of "punishment" or "justice". Hopefully, true
justice will be served." -Chloe, Texas
"You can certainly add my name to this
petition. There is too much unproven in this case. The poor kid
deserves a break. Instead of grovelling to the Indonesian government,
it is about time our politicians stood up for the rights of Australians.
With the amount of money we waste in funds to them, its about
time they listened. Keep the faith Schapelle, we are standing
by you. Take heart." Danny, Mackay, Qld
"Free
Schapelle! Make the Indonesian's suffer without our tourist dollars
and aid. This is a total injustice to Schapelle, her family and
all australians! WE BELIEVE IN YOU SCHAPELLE!" Alana,
Adelaide
"Schapelle is innocent, why would
anyone take drugs over there when the return is apparently higher
in Australia. Is this Indonesia's way of thanking us for helping
them when they needed it? They want out tourism, our money but
its OK to falsely jail an innocent or blow them up. As for our
Government, weak sods. I wonder if it was one of your kids being
treated like this would you do more then? Australians do notice
how the Aussie Government are treated over there and the innocent
victim isn't." Glenda, Western Australia
"Dear Gabrielle, Please accept my
name and location and my support in clearing Shapelle of these
ridiculous accusations. Only a fool would believe that she is
guilty. She has to be freed it is a simple as that." Tim,
High Wycombe, England
"This trail is like the Starlinist
show trials in the 40/50's and John Howards response is like Nevill
Chamberlains response after meeting Hitler." Russel,
Ballarat, Australia
" just want to voice my huge amount
of dissatisfaction about how little our australian government
is doing to help schapelle if they are doing anything at all...
Schapelle deservse to come home. She is innocent...
If Schapelle is found guilty, I urge all fellow human beings to
stand arm in arm and boycott any travel, aid, business dealings
with Indonesia. I know if she is found guilty I will not buy anything
made in indonesia, I will not support businesses that deal with
indonesia. I will urge all I know to do the same. Even just to
have Australians support this Im sure would put a dent in their
side. And to schapelle, I ask every day for your freedom. I do
believe your innocence. Be strong and willing, your day will come
when your wings will spread again!! " Zeke, Australia
"free schapelle!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Caspa, Australia
"Yes murder! Because that's what it
would be. I do not condone the transportation, sale or use of
controlled substances at all. I also do not condone the taking
of a human life by another human being. We're talking about a
law, rule, guideline or policy or whatever else you may want to
call it put down by our Creator. Each of us has a personal relationship
with our Creator whether we want it or not. And if we fail to
act upon assinine actions such as this we will suffer the consequences.
I live in Boise, Idaho, USA. I'm 58 years old, married w children,
an educator and have no particular political or religious alliances.
I do believe in obeying the law. We must recognize that some laws
are created by backward third world civilizations and we must
do something about these atrocities. I would urge you to take
immediate action to resolve this issue. Then follow up by ensuring
that this ignorant "law" is rescinded as soon as possible."
Robert, Idaho, USA
"I will not be taking any more holidays
in Indonesia, I will not be supporting any more Indonesian Relief
funds, I will not be purchasing any Indonseian product or eating
in Indonesian Resturants in any Country in the World. I will be
expecting the Australian Government to do whatever is required
to correct this injustice that the Indonesians have forced on
Chapel Corby. There is no shred of proof that she is guilty or
that she may be guilty. If Chapel is not found innocent then the
Australian people in unity must boycot Indonesia and Bali and
let them know we care about our people and will not give up until
true justice is done, Chapel is set free and compensated for the
horrific experience she has had to endure." Jeff,
Perth West Australia
"Hi , my name is David, i live on
the Gold Coast,Australia. I feel that if this lady goes to prison
or even worse is executed, a very large piece of Australia will
die with her. The Government has a moral
responsibility to prevent this injustice, if it does not, they
will lose face in the eyes of ordinary Australians and John Howard
will have her blood on his hands. Wake up to yourself John, ordinary
Australians are following this story, this could be my Daughter,
do something about it!!" David, Australia
"I keep imagining her in prison and
the fact that she is most probably innocent of any crimes make
me absolutely horrified right with her. I am afraid for her and
for all prisoners in foreign countries due to unfair justice systems.
If there was anything I could do of course I would. She needs
support more than ever. If I can't free her, I can provide what
support I can. This story really shocked me." Carolyn,
Los Angeles
"Add me to the petition. Schapelle
would have to be the most inept criminal ever if she is guilty,
which I
can't believe. A lady from our little village is spending her
7th. week in a Dubai jail for having banned substances in her
body when she was leaving the country. These were from painkillers
prescribed by her local doctor. And despite the doctor sending
confirmation and the confirmation being translated into Arabic
she is still in prison. So the British government is just as ineffective
as the Australian. I suggest you publish the email address of
the Indonesian Tourist board so we can all clog that up. Good
Luck & best wishes to best wishes to Schapelle & her family."
Peter (U.K.)
"I would like to express my concern
on the life of an innocent woman in Indonesia. Please God, may
the Indonesian Authorities realise that she is innocent all along.
I urge all travellers travelling to and from countries like Indonesia
to double check their lugguage." Graham, Galway, Republic
of Ireland.
"PLEASE SAVE THE LIFE OF THIS WONDERFUL
AUSTRALIAN GIRL AS SHE HAS DONE
NO WRONG, BUT HAS BEEN USED AS A POLITICAL PORN. LET THIS PERSON
GO.
REFUSE TO BUY PRODUCE FROM THIS COUNTRY. REFUSE TO TRAVEL TO THIS
COUNTRY. REFUSE ALL PEOPLE FROM THAT COUNTRY TO ENTER INTO AUSTRALIA."
Chris, USA
"We rightly give the Indonesians $1,000,000,000
to help in Aceh and save lives, they reply by threatening to inflict
all types of horror on this obviously innocent lady. Free her
now and return sanity to this out of control situation."
Vic, Australia
"Please
add my name to the list in petitioning the Australian Government
to take stronger action to save Schapelle Corby from an Indonesian
firing squad: The punishment she has received already is more
than she should ever have had to go through." Michael,
Spokane, WA, USA
"Please add my name to the list of
those affronted by the Indonesian judicial system. While I am
sympathetic to a government striving to confront a world of drugs
running amok the manner in which they deal with that problem must
be equitable and fair. Should this young woman be murdered by
proceedings which deny the basic core values and standards of
internationally recognized legal procedure then the damning reflection
will be on humanity and the Indonesian government in particular.
May the next days and weeks be as peaceful as can be for this
poor young woman, may justice be done in a true, fair, and equitable
manner, and may any sentence (if true) reflect our innate capacity
for love and compassion - and not our devilish yearning for blood
and recrimination" Richard, Seattle, WA, USA
"What goes around comes around. These
people will rot for what they are doing to her. From this moment
on, I have a lifelong boycott of anything Indonesian." Sarah,
USA
"Wake up! She was framed, an innocent
pawn in someone elses game. Get her home as soon as possible."
Karen, Sydney Australia
"Hello, my name is Scott. Before tonight,
I did noy know who Shapelle Corby was..Then I saw a like 2 second
clip of her circumstances on CNN. I cant believe that! If indonesia
kills this girl for having pot, it shows how inhuman and cruel
that country is, and I will never go there ever..Apparently the
justice system in Indonesia is run by three people basically who
dont speak english in court, (lots of defendants are foriegn and
speak english) and the system is very unfair. Ive read such stories
of no lawyers, no or 1 appeal to a decision, and just a faulty
unfair system. HOw sick is that place? they sentence people to
death for having drugs?? What planet am i on? I guess i dont hear
much about that living way over here...but i have been doin research.
IN my country...if you are caught with drugs....you get a fine...If
is is trafficing you will prob go to jail for 10 years but by
no means do you get executed. I just really feel for this girl
! and want to do anything possible to free her...she is not even
entitled to due-process of law, and the whole situation upsets
me... We not only need to free Shapelle, we need to revamp governments
who are unusually cruel like indonesia...somehow get new leadership
with people who have deceny and understanding...and turn it around
to be more like a fair system.not this type of stuff like thats
going on in indonesia...God bless Shapelle and lets all pray for
her.." Scott M, Boston Massachusetts, USA
"I wish I could do something this
is a ridiculous situation." Jon, Unknown
"Horrible story, I myself have backpacked
around the world and always feared to be a victim of a crime like
this, especially travelling in S.E Asia. I honestly think that
the Indonesian government is overreacting with it's law. I mean
I understand John Howard is saying that he has to respect another
country's law. In my opinion the law should be respected in as
long as it is a respectable law. In a world where in 80% of the
world for this crime you will do a few years prison time, or even
like in my country (The Netherlands) you basically walk within
a few days if it's your first felony, when that is the case in
the world I don't think
Indonesia has a respectable law, whether she is innocent or not,
on a global view the charged crime doesn't match the sentence
at all. I truly think that by not stopping this from happening
the Australian
government literally contributes in the death penalty Scharpelle.
It is a countries obligation to help it's citizens in crisis and
not just always only think about your own good political relations.
They will
murder the girl and who wants political relations with a murderer
who has plenty of human rights issues to solve in their own country.
Australia is a very warm an generous country, that again has been
underlined after the tsunami disaster. My advice in this situation
would be very simple to Mr Howard, just call up the Indonesian
President and threat with withdrawling all promised aid to Indonesia
if they wish to continue with this horrible manslaughter. They
need Australia more than the other way around..." Dariusz,
Netherlands
"We travel often and were considering
a trip to Bali. I have removed Indonesia from my list of places
to visit. Just as I will not visit Peru. The vigilante mentality
of the Indonesian government and populace tell me all I need to
know about the place. They richly deserve the low esteem held
for them by civilized countries of the world." David,
Gold Canyon, Arizona, USA
"My God People . Can you not see the
injustice in this case!!!!. This poor girl has been royally screwed
at her own expense. She was used as a pawn in this huge drug world.
I do not know her but my heart and prayers go to Corby and her
family. Her life has changed forever. Do not use her as a precedence.
The real criminals are still at large waiting to find another
innocent victim. I hope it isn't me next time or
someone of my family . It certainly seems like this was a well
planned job ...from the inside. I will hold my breath and may
God watch over her and comfort her.." Emily, Montreal
Canada
"Justice for Schapelle Corby The murder
of an innocent girl by the Indonesian government would only show
the violent nature of the Indonesian people and their government,
who cannot respond with any form of human consideration or concept
of justice. If the people of the world gradually see such evil,
perhaps we will have the wisdom to identify and respond in kind
to such criminal judges and leaders
whenever they leave Indonesia; and this should certainly discourage
our visiting Indonesian resorts or purchasing any products from
any such regimes. If you don't drive an SUV then you are not addicted
to any products from any such countries, and certainly have no
reason to go there, nor need to allow their people to enter or
continue living in the United States.
This injustice created in Indonesia is
certainly an Isolationist message that the Indonesian government
is intending to send to the rest of the world, and we should certainly
take it very seriously because our survival is in fact dependent
on clear and defensive actions; or we are unmistakably asking
that such violence only be repeated. This is a good time to end
our own ignorance of countries like Indonesia, their people and
their beliefs; and stop believing in all the fairy-tales sold
to us on our mass media and by our own corrupt government."
Paul, Malibu, California
"As an Australian I am distraught and
ashamed that our government is sitting on its hands with regards
to Schapelle’s plight. John Howard and Co. it is obvious
she is innocent and it is time to put nationalistic sensitivities
aside and help ONE OF OUR OWN. I demand it as a tax payer and
as a father of young children who God willing will never be in
Shapelle’s unfortunate predicament because at the end of
the day, you are a gutless pack of sycophants.
To the Indonesian government, I will make
sure that you never see a red cent in aid or tourism money come
from my wallet ever again if you do not find this poor girl innocent
whilst murdering fundamentalists are able to blow us up in a Balinese
night club. It seems okay for these misguided thugs to murder
over one hundred innocent young people and maim countless others
and then have their sentences reduced. You obviously have a deep
seeded hatred of Australians but be warned, don’t push us
too hard because we will retaliate where it hurts…your bottom
line."Paul,Glen Waverley Victoria Australia
"I identify with Schapelle Corby as
a watersport enthuisast and traveller. I know that I have had
bags separated from me without locks. During the time they were
in the airline's care items may go missing or be added to my luggage.
The latter appears to be the case of Miss Corby. There should
be a thorough investigation given to this matter, and I am confident
that this will free her from all guilt. I support Schapelle and
expect that she will be returned to her home promptly and with
full apology." - Stephen,
Florida, USA
"I think Schapelle is being held ransom
by a money starved country, getting all this publicity and money
from all the media etc. I believe all tourists and Government
should black ban all travel to this country to show we don't agree
with their Bulls---. She is so obviosly innocent." Unknown
"Schapelle's case is setting a clear
spotlight on the sincere absence of a just judicial system in
Indonesia. Despite his neutral stance at present, it is not beyond
JOHN HOWARD's power to intervene in this situation and I would
urge him strongly to do so.
"I would rather let 10 guilty go free
than to convict an innocent person for a crime they did not commit.
I believe the evidence surrounding Schapelle's involvement is
highly circumstancial and moreso - that she is truly innocent.
The time to act is now - while there is time left! Release Schapelle
and allow her to return to the normal life which she so justly
deserves." Clayton Hamilton, Denmark.
"Dear Gabrielle: Please add my name
to the petition. The punishment does not fit the crime. It is
even worse as it appears that the young woman is probably innocent."
Jerard, Alameda, California
"Please add my name to the petition.
The fact that an obviously innocent young women is being held
to a more extreme punishment than the cowardly terrorist that
intentionally took numerous lives is Unconscionable. The government
MUST consider what sort of message this sends to terrorists in
their country and around OUR world." Christopher, Louisiana,
USA
"I find this treatment of Ms. Corby
and the consequence of her "alleged" actions in Pale
and "out of balance"The thought of life in prison, let
alone punishment by death is as Ugly as it can get!. "The
Eye's of the world are watching you"....... Indonesian."
John, USA........
"Please do not let this innocent woman
die. Too many people pay for crimes they did not commit."
Nicholas, Washington State, USA.
"I believe Schapelle Is completely innocent!!!! Seven Thousand
dollars worth of drugs in Australia chicken shit in Bali? Who's
not doing there homework? Work it out! Schapelle scape-goat or
sacrifficial lamb? I'm inclined to look for an easy way out why
don't they try hiding under their desk instead of any
future attempts at law enforcement? When are they bring out the
bamboo shutes and the monkey table we'll al know where we stand!
This person deserves our understanding and consideration. It could
happen to you! That fine line between guilt and innocence is very
hard to determine. Does Justice fall on the lack of investigation?
What happened to inocent until proven guilty?" Vic, Unknown
"I looked at my youngest son's body
board the other day. two pillowcases in my linen cupboard. and
the lawn clippings and shrub trimmings dried out in the back corner
of my garden. Schappelle is innocent." Chris, Australia
"Having followed the Schapelle Corby
case through the media since it began I have continued to grow
very angry at the total lack of action by John Howard and Alexander
Downer. Having just donated 1 Billion dollars to the Indonesian
government for disaster relief I think we are in a unique and
commanding position to disregard the international etiquette that
our government seems intent on providing. Whilst I am not a drug
user and support the strict control of illicit drugs I cannot
help but ask what I would expect from my elected Australian government
if I fell into a similar position overseas. Schapelle Corpy could
easily be me or my wife or two your children. In such an overwhelmingly
doubtful case the only priority for the Australian government
should be to secure the immediate release of the person charged.
John Howard, you are a spineless weakling and as a direct result
of your inaction in this case I will not support you or your party
at the next election. Your duty is to the Australian people, not
our Indonesian neighbours. Get on the phone and get her out now
!" Roger, Australia
"I thought I should add comment to your Website. I have
sent emails to twenty friends asking each of them to pass it on,
after 50 signatures to return to me for printing and posting to
the Indonesian Consulate here in Perth. I have sent copies of
the letter to all major Newspaper groups in Australia including
Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Hobart and Darwin. I have
sent a letter directly to the Justice department in Jakarta, Indonesia.
It may not help but at least we have tried. Copy of email sent
to my friends (comprising of 20 recipients)." George,
Australia
" support strong action on the
part of the Australian government to ensure that justice is done.
So often the justice system of a govenment is lacking and not
in keeping with our sense of justice. There is a difference between
strong law enforcement and blind enforcement. This is not the
intended meaning of the term- "Justice is Blind".
Joseph, Towson, Maryland U.S.A.
"I was online tonight and read a few
people chatting about this. I heard this for the first time tonight
and just wanted to petition for her. I am 28 years old and know
that my life has barely began. She needs to be set free, the harsh
lesson has been learned that since we cannot come together as
one nation, we should all just stay in our own countries!"
TJ, America
"Free Schapelle Corby. What happened
to her is unfair! This is insane! I have a cousin (a young woman,
though older than me (I looked up to her while growing up), about
her age) who likes to travel a lot. It is paniful to think of
someting like this. Let Schapelle live!" Geoff, Saskatchewan,
Canada.
"It
is appalling Schapell Corby is facing such a perilous situation
coupled with the apparent lack of concern by politicians in Australia
and Bali, Indonesia. We as individuals have little control over
how a sovereign nation prescribes it’s laws, other than
to protest it’s actions via boycott. If the judiciary of
Bali carries out its travesty, Bali can be assured they have lost
significant tourism income from myself and as many people as I
cross in my life. I would assume the tourism industry in Bali
might have some political sway over this situation and encourage
all concerned to contact the tourism industry directly and let
them know how you feel.
Head of Bali Government Tourism Office,
GEDE NURJAYA, http://www.balitourismauthority.net who welcomes
visitors with the opening line: “Dear Visitor, I am afraid
it is really my great honor to welcome all of you to Bali, the
Island of Peace.” I am disheartened by almost any legal
system in which a victimless crime such as drug possession is
treated with the same veracity as violent physical assault, but
this instance has taken the prize for outrageousness." Forest,
Australia
"It is very evident that the Indonesian
Government is going to go to extreme measures to ensure that the
world nows what a violent and oppressive government they are,
it is up to the Prime Minister of Australia to say "STOP"
and STOP NOW" before something terrible happens. The Australian
Government should tell the Government of Indonesia that they will
not allow thier citizens to travel to thier country and that they
will announce the implementation of economic sanctions on thier
country if they continue to prosecute Schapelle. May God Bless
her and keep her safe.I wish I could do more. My Heart goes out
to her and her family." John,Newfoundland, Canada.
"I would like my name added to the
petition to free Schapelle Corby. It appears rather obvious that
this case is politically motivated and has no merit.
I have seen no evidence this young woman
has ever been involved in any sort of drug trafficking, and she
certainly seems intelligent enough to understand the consequences
for smuggling drugs into Indonesia and had no motivation to do
so. In the light of the evidence that has been brought forward,
others have been implicated and even convicted for this crime.
Ms. Corby should be home already, and in any most other countries
in the world, she would have been released by judges who were
not either politically motivated or following some unknown personal
agenda. In my country, we are considered innocent until proven
guilty, not the opposite. I therefore, have a great deal of difficulty
understanding why the judge in this case is actually acting as
a prosecutor, a jury, and a potential executioner, as I do not
believe either secular or Shaira law allows for such proceedings,
even against women. It is inconceivable that this woman should
be executed, let alone spend any more time in prison. This situation
truly defines the word travesty." Donald, USA
